Endings and Beginnings

Endings and Beginnings - K.C. Wells, Parker Williams Release day review posted at Sinfully.

This is bittersweet for me, saying goodbye to a favorite series and some favorite couples, but K.C. Wells and Parker Williams did a great job tying up all their stories and giving us a brand new one with club bartender JJ and Darren, the salon owner we met in [b:Trusting Thomas|18478271|Trusting Thomas (Collars and Cuffs, #2)|K.C. Wells|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1378795247s/18478271.jpg|26150372]. While this is JJ and Darren’s story, and the romance is exclusively theirs, the plotline involves the club and its members so there is time to say goodbye to all your favorites. If you’re new to the series you really need to start with [b:An Unlocked Heart|18076442|An Unlocked Heart (Collars and Cuffs, #1)|K.C. Darren wants what he saw between Peter and Thomas the day they came to his salon for Peter’s “rebirth”. He wants to love and to be loved, but he also wants to be in control and take care of someone. He is finally ready to take Thomas up on his offer to visit the club and when he lays eyes on JJ behind the bar, he is instantly attracted.

Growing up never knowing his father then finding out his mother had lied to him most of his life, JJ finds it hard to trust people. It soon becomes clear that he is working at Collars & Cuffs for reasons other than just needing a job. What he sees between the couples at the club has him yearning for that sort of a connection. But recent events have shaken JJ and the only thing that seems to bring him comfort is potential club member Darren. JJ’s instincts tell him Darren is trustworthy, but will anyone want to know JJ once they find out his secret?

Both Darren and JJ discover a lot about themselves and each other, and they are both moving into new territory with this relationship. Darren is amazing. Patient and caring, he just wants to take care of JJ and will do anything he can to earn his trust. JJ took a bit of time to warm up to, but really he’s just lonely and hurt. He tends to run when things get hard, which could be a bit frustrating, but when he decides to give Darren a chance his feisty and fun nature comes out. The two have a challenging and emotional road to find the connection they have both longed for and it’s within reach, as long as JJ doesn’t let his fears get in the way. Both are also new to the world of BDSM, but are ready to learn and explore and have an amazing sexual chemistry. Darren takes to his Dom training naturally and elevates dirty talk to a whole new, seriously hot level, and JJ has a wide range of kinks he wants to share with Darren. The type of BDSM relationship they are building is unique to them, just like the wide variety of relationships that have been explored throughout this series.

While this is JJ and Darren’s story, it does take place in and revolve around the Collars & Cuffs club and its family members so it allows for a creative and fitting farewell to the series. The authors weave in the stories and points of view of the characters from prior books, allowing fans one last look at the couples they have come to love. Even Miles and Pietro, who have been on the sidelines since the first book, get some long overdue page time.

Although the romantic pairings have always been the focus of the books, there have also been some great friendships written and they continue here in Leo and Thomas, Peter and Alex, and my new favorite, the relationship between the oldest and youngest subs, Jarod and Scott. Any tears I shed while reading this book were completely their fault!

Endings and Beginnings has everything a great series finale should, including laughs, tears, new milestones, and a guarantee of future happiness for everyone involved. Of course, since this is Collars & Cuffs, there is plenty of hot sex, romance and kink. I’ve really loved seeing these couples grow, and even those who started off rocky, have happily learned from their mistakes. In this installment most of the couples face big life changes, expected and unexpected, and though we are saying goodbye, it may be, for some, more of a see you soon.

It’s not goodbye pet. This might be the ending of one story, but I promise you, it’s the beginning of another.

Thank you K.C. Wells and Parker Williams for creating a series that contains a few of my go to re-reads and favorite couples, and giving it a perfect ending.
