4.5 Stars.Don't make the same mistake I did, putting off reading this because you think it is about slam poetry. I could not put this book down once I started and immediately downloaded book 2.
I would also suggest not reading any reviews that allude to the storyline. The main characters and their stories hit every emotion out there. The secondary characters are also well written. Just when you think you know what is coming, something else comes and smacks you in the face.
This book would probably even make Chuck Norris shed a tear.
