Always
Always is a fairy tale romance between high powered lawyer/politician Avery and devout Christian restaurant owner Kane. The emotional, present day opening chapter pulled me right in. What follows is a story spanning forty years of the relationship, from first meeting forward. All of the highlights and some low-lights of their lives play out, with minimal drama and no angst. It is a love story pure and simple of two men who are destined to be together always. The ending was unexpected and emotional, adding to the fairy tale feel. The secondary characters that make up the couple's support system were well fleshed out, especially Paulie, the man who became a father figure to Kane. While I enjoyed the story, there were times in the middle where things got a little slow. As always, Kindle Alexander knows how to write a steamy sex scene, and somehow makes me buy into the insta-love between the characters. It seemed to me that she also left an opening for a story about Avery and Kane's son Robert.
If you are in the mood for a sweet story about everlasting love, with an unconventional happy ending, pick up this book.
